Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days at The Calderstones
The Harthill Greenhouse, Calderstones Park
FREE Event

Thursday 8 September: 10am - 4pm
Friday 9 September: 10am - 4pm
Saturday 10 September: 10am - 4pm
Sunday 11 September: 10am - 4pm

Older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids and closed to the public since the 1980s, this is a rare chance to see the Calderstones up close and personal.

With the permission of Liverpool City Council, The Reader are opening up The Calderstones for Heritage Open Days festival this September!

Over 5000 years ago the first settled humans chose the area of south Liverpool as a special landscape. They built a huge prehistoric burial monument of stone on which they carved mysterious spirals and circles.
The monument and the people who created it have gone but the Calderstones themselves remain. The six megaliths, which tell the story of Liverpools first settlers, are Merseysides oldest human monument.

See more at Heritage Open Days or contact The Reader's Heritage Stories Maker, Richard Macdonald on 07870196788 or richardmacdonald@thereader.org.uk

You can also find out more about the event on The Calderstones Mansion blog.
