30th August - 10th November 2013 Blackpool Illuminations 2012 31 August - 4 November 2012  The Blackpool Illuminations 2011 Switch On was celebrated in style on 2 September as TV’s hottest comedian Mr Keith Lemon brought the pop party of the year to a culmination as he switched on the world famous Blackpool Illuminations. Also top names including Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry, Scouting For Girls and Olly Murs got the 15,000 strong audience in the arena, along with the additional 25,000 watching on a giant screen along the seafront and across the town, chanting, dancing and generally having a fantastic time. (Blackpool Illuminations 2011 Youtube)  2010 Switch On One of the biggest stars in the country Robbie Williams will have the honour of pulling the famous switch and launching the 66 night light extravaganza that will shine nightly until 7th November 2010. Opera sensation Russell Watson will return to his native Lancashire, bringing home the famous ‘Voice’ that has performed across the world. And there’ll be teen screams as the five boys who are The Wanted visit the beach. Their debut single 'All Time Low' has already reached number 1 in the UK singles chart and an album is in the works too. They’ll be joined by popular X-Factor runner-up Olly Murs as well as Australian popstrel Gabriella Cilmi whose first single, Sweet About Me, was the most played single of 2009. And Nell Bryden will also be bringing her unique brand of modern-Dixie to the beach.
