Woodlands Hospice Starlight Walk

Woodlands Hospice is once again looking for people to take part in their Annual Starlight Walk. The event which takes place on 21st May, will start at midnight close to the Hospice on the grounds of Aintree Hospital. It marks the fifteenth anniversary of the Hospice and is set to be the biggest yet.
Carole Riley, Woodlands Hospice Fund Raising & Communications Manager said: “This is one of the key events in our annual fundraising calendar. Since it began five years ago the number of participants has grown each year which is fantastic, but we still need the continued support of local people and businesses to build on its success.
“It’s a wonderful event, everyone who has attended previous years have remarked on the tremendous atmosphere and camaraderie spirit of the evening. It really is a great way to raise money for a very worthy cause.”
The specialist care provided by Woodlands, along with the support available to family and carers is invaluable. The money raised will go toward ensuring these services can continue.
Carole adds: “I appreciate times are hard at the moment, but every penny really does mean a lot to us. We’re aiming to exceed last year’s amount by raising in excess of £30,000 so we need all the support we can get.”
Registration is just £10 plus sponsorship, with all participants receiving a t-shirt, medal and a well deserved breakfast roll when they complete the walk. There are two routes, a three mile walk or for those feeling more energetic there’s a six mile option. For people unable to take part they are looking for volunteers to help out on the night, or simply give a donation.
