Oxjam Liverpool Takeover 2011

21 - 23 October 2011
Various Venues
Every year, a national music festival is run by volunteers in various cities across the UK, raising money for Oxfam whilst showcasing the best local music and talent. This year, the Liverpool Takeover Festival on Sunday 23rd October is set to be bigger and better than ever before, sprawling across the city, with dozens of bands playing for a one off wristband price of £5. This grants you access to any participating venue at any time during the festival and is a true bargain for the amount of great bands you will have the opportunity to see.
The main events will take place at Mello Mello, Mojo and Parr Street, starting at Midday and continuing ‘til the early hours. All the bands confirmed so far are really exciting, showing what a broad and interesting range of musical talent Liverpool has to offer. They include: Loose Moose String Band, Aeroplane Flies High, Class Actions (political hip hop), Dan Croll, Kodiak, Alpha Male Tea Party, Hot Light Fiesta, Valet Dukes, Sing For Your Supper, Laura Amelia James, Jazz Hands, Ninetails, House That Jack Built, Rhodes, jeanclaudegoddamn
Stan Ambrose (harpist) and Lost At Sea (OPEN MIC) with even more to be confirmed. Homemade cakes will be available at Parr Street throughout the day and there will also be yoga lessons, drum lessons and screen prints from Screenadelica so there is plenty to keep you occupied all day.
The Takeover launch party will hit Mello Mello on Friday 21st October. Local favourites Pete Bentham and The Dinner Ladies will be headlining, alongside Church of Confidence (Berlin), Biteback and Old Radio. Just £3 entry, this will be the perfect way to set you up for the festival, with a handy day off in between to sleep off the hangover. Look out for some pop up busking around the city on Saturday 22nd though, just to keep the spirit of goodwill alive.
You can pre-order your festival wristbands for collection on the day from WeGotTickets or alternatively buy them from any venue on the day. Search facebook for ‘Oxjam Liverpool Takeover’ to stay up to date on more bands, fun stuff and the full schedule.
