Visit Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts at the Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool from the 26-28 April where you will find over 100 craft experts offering all the latest supplies and ideas in the world of creative craft. With everything from sewing, knitting and cross stitch, to papercraft, jewellery making and pyrography, there is something for everyone!

Visitors to the show will be treated to a selection of sumptuous costumes from the hit ITV series, Downton Abbey. Written by award winning writer Julian Fellowes, Downton Abbey has captured the hearts of the nation with some of the finest examples of Edwardian costume splendour. Featuring a beautiful collection of some of the most iconic outfits from the first series, each outfit shows the exquisite needlework and craftsmanship that went into their design. The collection includes dresses worn by Dame Maggie Smith (Dowager Countess of Grantham), Elizabeth McGoven (Countess of Grantham), Penelope Wilton (Isobel Crawley) and the three daughters, Lady Mary, Lady Edith and Lady Sybil Crawley.

Continuing the theme of costume dramas, the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles' collection, The Romance of Words is helping to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’. Embracing the theme of romance in the written form, each quilt has captured the imagination of the maker and presents literal and lateral interpretations of the subject.

Poetry in Stitches 3 will continue the collaboration of words and craft with the latest round of this ever-popular project from the National Needlework Archive. Inspired by poetry, textile artists have been asked to combine the two forms to complement each other. This exhibit will feature some of the best and truly stunning interpretations.

Help to celebrate the best of British with the brand new Glimpses of Blighty display. This exciting embroidery display will showcase the best entries from the latest prestigious Stitch/Madeira competition. With everything from Routemaster buses, Mini Coopers and Mary Quant, to red telephone boxes, the sunny seaside and afternoon tea, this will be a display that will leave you feeling proud to be British!

With over 30 years experience in the knitting industry, Julie Crowther will be offering her expertise in the brand new Knitting Lounge. Beginners to the craft can come along and learn to ‘Knit One, Purl One’ along with other basics of knitting while the more experienced knitter can indulge their craft in the comfort of the show.

Exploring the ancient craft of lace-making, The Art of Lace will show why lace is often described as an ornament in itself. Featuring lace made by hand and machine, this exhibition will showcase needle lace, one of the most flexible forms of the art, Cutwork lace which is constructed by removing threads from a woven background and many other examples of this delicate art form.

All show visitors will be able to enjoy a FREE programme of Quick & Easy Workshops and Talks each day of the show. Focusing on a wide variety of craft skills and applications, this is a great way to try your hand at a new craft. As well as this you can indulge your passion for crafting at one of the many on-stand demonstrations including Rachel Powell on Spinning and Dyeing, Pen Harrison exploring Soft Furnishings, The Embroiderers’ Guild and Tracey Prugin with Silver Clay techniques.

With so many exhibitors on hand to offer you the best advice and all the latest products, ideas and innovations, you will leave the show fully inspired and racing home to try your hand at a new craft.
