Chinese New Year In Liverpool26 January 2009Celebrations are on Jan 26th at Great George Street and Great George Square. China’s cultural heritage is alive and well all year round in Liverpool, which is home to one of the oldest Chinese communities in Europe. January sees these traditions take to the streets for all to enjoy as the city says goodbye to the Year of the Rat and welcomes the Year of the Ox. People born in the Year of the Ox are said to make great leaders. They are dependable, calm and modest with innate ability to achieve great things. Famous Oxen include Barack Obama, Bill Cosby, Walt Disney and Vincent van Gogh. The city streets are always a riot of colour and excitement during the Chinese New Year celebrations and 2009 will be no exception. View some fantastic photos from previous years here.
