Directed by Philip Davies (1994) with long-time Ken Loach collaborator Sally Hibbin and written by John Sacksteder, Hold Back the Night is the story of two Scottish youngsters, Charleen (Christine Tremarco) and Declan (Stuart Sinclair Blyth) who are on the run from their past, their families and the police. Both are damaged, complex and difficult but soon they begin to come to terms with each other and their newfound friends...Killer, an unlovable pit bull terrier, and Vera (Sheila Hancock) a lesbian whose dying wish is to see the sunrise on the Ring of Brodgar in Orkney.
Sally Hibbin, from Parallax Pictures said about Christine Tremarco “She is an extraordinary actress. We wondered what she would be like with accents but when she came back to see us after doing some research in Bradford, she was fantastic!”
On the upcoming screening Christine said ‘I will always support Clapperboard as I think the creative work that Maureen Sinclair and the team does with young people is fantastic. On a personal note it’s important for me to be able to give something back to the young people in this city and the North West’.
Christine will participate in a Question and Answer session with the audience after the screening and complimentary after show drink will be provided, sponsored by Alma de Cuba, Seel St.
