3rd Degree Music Festival

04 - 16 April 2011
Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts
Reggae royalty Buggy to perform alongside emerging LIPA acts in 3rd Degree festival.
BARBADIAN reggae star Buggy Nhakente will bring his tropical beats to LIPA next month for the institutes's 3rd Degree music festival.
Guest performer Buggy is sharing the bill with an exciting new crop of LIPA acts, among them award-winning songwriter and Dire Wolfe front man Dan Croll, recently signed Picture Book and singer-songwriter Evelyn Burke.
Over the years 3rd Degree has featured names such as The Wombats, Sandi Thom, John Smith, The Staves and a host of other performers who have gone on to achieve success both in the UK and overseas.
Buggy will perform with LIPA backing band Fully Loaded, put together especially for 3rd Degree, an annual two-week showcase of live music performed by third-year BA (Hons) Music students and featuring guest musicians. The former Barbados Reggae Artist of the Year will sing original tracks and cover versions arranged by students Samantha Lubin and Adam Dawson.
This festival will see a diverse range of LIPA acts from electro to blues take to the stage of the 400-capactiy Paul McCartney Auditorium every evening, except Sundays, from April 4 and 16. Each night will encompass a musical and visual theme, brought together by LIPA music, design, technical and management students.
Tickets are available via the 3rd Degree website, www.hmvtickets.com, from HMV in Liverpool 1, or by calling 0843 221 0100. Tickets are priced at just £12 for a full festival wristband or £4 for a single night (£3 student concession).
